Vonnie Gorman Chaffin, 78, of Prestonsburg, passed away Friday, Oct. 18 at Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, KY following an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lillie Mae Vaughn Chaffin, a brother, Norman "Pete" Chaffin and a daughter, Bettina Harris. He is survived by his wife, Violet Wright Chaffin, his son Mark (Karen) Chaffin of Gulf Shore, AL; a step-daughter, Mary Alice (Albie) Howell of McDowell, KY; a brother, Ronnie Chaffin of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Patsy C. Willis and Ruth Harless, both of Van Lear, KY. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Kellyn Chaffin Dixon, Benjamin Chaffin, Veronica Harris, Whitney Blankenship and Zack Howell and six great-grandchildren: Katrina Harris, Owen Kennix Howell, Hailey and Kaylee Little; Trevor and Jace Blankenship. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. under the loving and professional care of Carter Funeral Home of Prestonsburg, KY. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andy Wright officiating. Burial immediately following services at the H.L. Setser Cemetery in Prestonsburg, KY.
