Calvin "Rod" Shepherd, 73, of David , KY, passed away, Monday, April 8 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Babe Shepherd, his mother, Rebecca Hicks Shepherd, a brother, Arnold Elmer Shepherd and 2 sisters, Wanda Wicker and Bonnie Shortridge. Calvin is survived by 2 daughters, Deitra "Dee" Hackworth(fiance Paul Cowsar) and Tania (Kevin) Holbrook; a sister, Thelma (Billy Joe) Prater; a granddaughter, Taylor Hackworth; a grandson, Jonathan Holbrook; his fiancee, Pamela Gullett; a step-daughter, Jamie Howell and her children, Cadence and Melody Howell. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10 from 6-9pm and Thursday, April 11, from 12 noon until 9pm, under the professional and dignified care of the Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg, KY. A memorial service will be held at a later date determined by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Auxier Chapter of the DAV.
