Bo was one of the most real men I knew. I was lucky enough to have been around him for many years. From when Lisa, Mike and I went to school together or when I was a Police officer working shifts with Sue my shift supervisor when he was fire chief to seeing him regularly at Billy Rays. One thing you could ALWAYS count on with Bo was a real and honest conversation. Bo was one of my favorite people. This family are some of my most favorite people. I love this family. It becomes harder and harder as we see the "old guard" leaving us to fend on our own without the sage advice they always offered. I will pray hard for this family to rejoice in the many good memories people will assuredly be offering during these next few weeks. It is difficult to lose a loved one, yet it is imperative to have the memories to keep.

When I came to Prestonsburg in 1963 , first order of business was Football game against Townbranch ....Prestonsburg Grade School field ...when I saw the Townbranch team walking down the long Lane from Court Street , I almost jumped back over the fence to our rental home at the Sturgill Apartments , they had vowed to get the new 13 year old kid from Detroit ......but I didn't , because I had just met my protector in the backfield , TOMBO BLACKBURN .....our lifelong frendship started right then ......the smiles we shared when we met for the next fifty some years were always harkening back to our carefree youth on the playgrounds of Prestonsburg !......ALL MY FRIENDS IN PRESTONSBURG , AND OUR FRIENDS ON TOWN BRANCH WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GENTLE GIANT OF A MAN , OUR FRIEND TOMBO !
